Exposure to sunlight causes the skin to be exposed to ultraviolet light that can cause sunburn and premature skin aging. Here are some recommendations that provide effective sun protection:
Avoiding the sun remains the best form of sun protection; schedule your outdoor activities before 10am or after 4pm to avoid sun exposure at its peak intensity. It’s good to know that the glass in windows absorbs most of the ultraviolet light. However, clouds do allow ultraviolet light through.
Clothing is an excellent way to protect from sun exposure. Fabrics with dark colors protect better than those with light colors.
Hats with large brims (at least 4 inches) are effective in protecting the face and neck.
Sunscreens are very effective. It is recommended to use sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor, also called SPF, of 30 or more. The product should be applied at least 15 to 30 minutes prior to exposure and should be reapplied regularly every 2 hours.
Remember, it’s your life, your future, YOUR HEALTH FIRST.
