Dry skin is quite common. It can cause discomfort and itching. Here are few tips that help alleviate skin dryness:
Do not use hot water for bathing, warm water is best.
Limit your time in the bathtub or shower to no more than 10 minutes a day, preferably once a day.
Use a gentle cleanser, mild, fragrance-free soaps. Avoid anti-bacteria or perfumed soaps.
Immediately after a bath or shower, pat your skin and apply a moisturizer while the skin is still damp.
Moisturize the skin as many times as needed. Don’t look for the most expensive moisturizer, look for those containing effective ingredients such as urea, lactic acid, glycerine and petrolatum.
It’s better to cleanse your face at night.
It is recommended that you shave immediately after or during a bath or shower as this is when the hair is at its softest. Always have in the direction that the hair grows.
The hands are very exposed and sensitive to dryness; apply hand cream after they are washed.
Avoid exposure to dry heat and harsh winds.
And remember, it’s your life, your future, YOUR HEALTH FIRST.
