Health experts are always promoting the benefits of exercise and studies show that most of us do not exercise enough. All agree, though, that swimming is one of the best activities there is for the body.

Blessed as Qatar is with year-round sunshine, swimming is an activity that many people already take part in and it is a wonderful all-round exercise. Swimming regularly can reduce the risk of chronic illnesses like type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. It will help you maintain your ideal weight and, as with all exercises, will help you to feel good because of the release of endorphins  associated with physical activity.

Not only that but swimming is suitable for everyone, from the young to the old because there is very little impact on the joints, although of course young children should always be supervised.

For those who are unable to swim, just remember – it is never too late. Not only is swimming great for your health, it is also a skill that one day could save someone’s life.
