Pizza Wheels


These pizza wheels are fast and easy to make and the perfect size for a snack that won’t interfere with dinner. Of course we prefer to see moms make the dough from scratch, but we know it’s not always possible. Store-bought frozen bread and pizza dough work great as well. Just check the ingredients list and make sure there aren’t any artificial ingredients. Flour, salt, and yeast are about all you need to make good dough and those are the ingredients you should see on the label.

  • 2-2/3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2/3 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk, warm
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2/3 cup tomato paste
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup pineapple, chopped
  • 3/4 cup sausages, chopped
  • 1-1/4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/3 cup Italian parsley, chopped

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Combine flour, salt, and yeast. Mix in warm milk and oil.
3. Knead for 10 minutes and then divide dough into two equal pieces.
4. Roll out to one 12 x 8-inch rectangle and spread with tomato paste.
5. Combine onion, pineapple, sausages, cheese, and parsley and sprinkle over tomato paste. 6. Roll rectangle lengthwise in jelly roll style, cut into 16 slices each and bake for 25 minutes.
